Custom Cake Boxes Built Around Your Cake and Brand
A cake box needs to fit more than the cake diameter. The board, frosting, decorations and way the cake leaves your bakery all shape the specification. Green Custom Boxes manufactures custom packaging with tailored dimensions and printing, helping you plan a branded carton around the finished presentation.
Start with the cake as your customer receives it: on its board, fully decorated and ready for collection. Share that packed footprint and height alongside your logo and order quantity so the box discussion begins with the right measurements.
Size the Box From the Board Up
A nominal cake size is a useful product label, but it is not a complete box specification. Measure the actual board length and width, or its diameter for a round board. Include any projecting decoration that extends beyond that footprint, and state whether your measurements describe the product or the required internal box space.
- Base fit: record the board's outer dimensions, including tabs or other projections.
- Height: measure from the underside of the board to the highest decoration, including a topper if it travels in place.
- Loading and removal: explain how staff place the finished cake inside and how the customer will lift it out without reaching across delicate decoration.
- Weight: give the packed weight so the proposed base and construction can be assessed for the job.
Do not assume one allowance suits every cake. A low sheet cake, a tall celebration cake and a shaped cake present different clearance and handling needs. Confirm the proposed internal dimensions and opening arrangement before settling the specification.
Match the Construction to the Handoff
Counter pickup and local delivery are different briefs. Tell us whether a customer carries the box straight from the bakery, a driver makes several stops, or the packed cake spends time in chilled storage. Describe how the board is supported during handling rather than treating the carton as a substitute for a suitable cake board.
Board grade, base construction, closure and any requested finish need to be assessed together for your cake and handling conditions. Ask for the proposed material specification rather than selecting on appearance alone. Any window, handle or other add-on is subject to product and order confirmation; include it in the initial request rather than assuming it is standard.
Food-contact arrangements, liners, moisture exposure and chilled-use suitability also need confirmation for the chosen construction. A cake presentation box is not automatically suitable for parcel shipping, and its appearance does not establish food-contact compliance or transit performance.
Make Your Bakery Recognizable Before the Lid Opens
Custom cake boxes with logo printing give your bakery a visible place on the customer's celebration table. Plan a clear lid design, then use the side panels for a short brand message or contact details. Keep essential text away from folds and opening edges so the assembled layout remains easy to read.
Share your logo file, brand colors and any artwork versions at the start. For a range of cake sizes, carry the same visual identity across the family while adapting the artwork to each panel layout. A design that works on a wide sheet-cake lid may need a different arrangement on a smaller square carton.
Plan Sizes and Quantities as a Range
For cake boxes wholesale enquiries, list quantities against each size and artwork version rather than giving only a combined total. This makes it easier to compare like-for-like specifications and identify which designs belong on regular orders versus seasonal runs. Pricing, minimum quantities and production timing must be confirmed for the actual order.
This page focuses on whole-cake fit and handoff. If you need individual take-home slices, state that separately because the footprint, loading and presentation brief changes. For a broader mix of baked goods, explore custom bakery boxes; for a compact cake format, see small cake boxes.
Bring Your Cake Box Brief Together
Send Green Custom Boxes the details below to request a quote for printed cake packaging:
- Board footprint, finished cake height and packed weight for each cake format.
- Pickup, local delivery or other handling requirements, including any chilled-storage needs.
- Quantity per size, artwork version and expected reorder pattern.
- Logo, brand colors, required printed text and preferred visual treatment.
- Requested construction, finish or add-ons, plus your required delivery date and destination.
With the measurements and presentation goals together, the next step is to confirm a suitable construction and the order-specific options. Share your cake box brief and request a quote built around your range, not just a nominal cake diameter.
